International Gashuku in Naha/Okinawa in Oktober/November 2013
There have been 3 special reasons for this international Gashuku in Naha:
- the 60th Jundokan Founding Anniversary
- the 60th Memorial Miyagi Chojun and
- the 15th Memorial Miyazato Eiichi Sensei.
It was held at the Budokan in Naha and it was a great event.
About 140 participants from all over the world attended the seminar.
From Jundokan Karate-Do Austria covering the 3 clubs HTL-Hollabrunn, Budo-SV Vienna and Karate Wien 19 students took part in; six of them passed Dan- examinations including that to Shodan, Nidan, Sandan and Yondan.
Dr. Friedrich Gsodam was honored by the Jundokan with the Kjudan.
We had the opportunity to practice in the famous Jundokan dojo prior and after the Gashuku, which was very important and interesting for the students.
All the Jundokan teachers Tetsunosuke Yasuda, Yoshihiro Miyazato, Tetsu Gima, Tsuneo Kinjo, Hiroshi Ganaha, Kazuya Higa and Hisao Sunagawa had assisted us during the whole event.
The Gashuku started with a welcome party, then followed the training units and dan-examination at the Budokan and finally there was the Sayonara Party at the Orion Hotel.
Also a visit of the grave of Eiichi Miyazato Sensei was included.
Our students and we had also the opportunity to see the commeroration ceremony of the kings of Shuri Castle, which is a great event in Naha and takes 5 hours as well in the castle as in the streets of Naha.
Of course we visited the Kokusai Dori, Haiwa Dori, Shogeinshi Dori and other interesting parts of Naha like the harbours and some monuments.
Very important have been the opportunities to meet the number of participants from all over the world, e.g. USA, Canada, Alaska, Australia, New Seeland, China and from many countries in Europe etc.
The photographs give you an impression of the event.
